available in Gorey.

a fond memory of holidays past. Today, the beaches have improved access and related facilities but retain their unspoilt quality. Excellent leisure
and accommodation facilities are available through a variety of guest accommodation including the newly developed hotels with spa and leisure
facilities: the Ashdown Park and Amber Springs Hotels in Gorey Town and the Seafield complex in Ballymoney.

Government Quarter

The Government Quarter which is being developed will house the new Civic Centre, Library, Court House and VEC facility and will be located
along the tree lined Avenue, on the Wexford approach road.  Impressive modern buildings will surround a public courtyard facility providing the
town with a much needed accessible focal point and public services arena.

In recent years Gorey and its wider area have developed a wide variety of recreation facilities including a state of the art Skatepark and a new multi
age Play park based in the Townpark while plans are underway to develop the Gorey Showgrounds facility in the centre of the town. The town has
a strong sporting history featuring All Ireland and County GAA Champions while Rugby is also well established in the town through the dedicated
grounds which hosts the GRFC.
In the wider Gorey area, Courtown Wood which includes the Forest Park leisure facility and Playpark have further added to the number of quality
facilities in the locality. The quality Par 3 and Golf facilities at Courtown and Ballymoney also add to the recreation facilities available within the area.
On the artistic and cultural front Gorey Little Theatre hosts year round entertainment and is seen as the home of theatre and the musicals. North Wexford also has many noted artists who exhibit their work regularly at a variety of venues in the area, in addition to being the location of the Gorey School of Art.

Marina

Courtown Harbour has been indicated as a location for a new Marina and related facilities by the Department of the Marine (2006), which will be the connecting marina between Arklow and Wexford Town, thereby making best use of the sea and existing accommodation and facilities in the area.

Building communities

The town has developed its community sector with many local volunteer efforts aiming to amalgamate the new and the old communities. The Gorey Area Community Forum is an active organisation which brings together all of the local groups into one community based voice with direct influence on the future development of the area. New youth and childcare facilities are being developed in the town by Gorey Youth Needs and a well developed facility for the disabled is available in the St. Aidans Centre. A new 7 screen multiplex cinema has been granted planning permission on the Gorey-Courtown access
road.Wexford County Council and the local communities are keen to ensure that services will develop and grow in tandem in a sustainable manner.

Enterprise and Employment

Set on the prime N 11 route from Rosslare Port to Dublin Gorey and North Wexford is well placed for serious economic development. A number of
active Business Parks along with large areas of zoned industrial land exist in the area, making it prime development property into the future. Seen as a
hub for the eastern seaboard the area also offers routes into southern regions which are accessible by air, sea or road. Not only is it a prime location,
North Wexford also offers a highly skilled mobile workforce capable of meeting the needs of a variety of entrepreneurs and industries who would like
their staff to enjoy a better work life balance.

Education

Education underpins much of the development of the economy and Gorey places high priority on its education sector from Primary through to Third level
and Adult education. The town hosts a choice of Primary level schools, the most recent addition being the new multi denominational Educate Together school.

The Gorey Community School and Kilmuckridge School offer a choice of second level education with plans for another second level school well
underway. The proximity of the town to many Third Level developments such as the proposed University of the South East: Waterford IT, and Dublin
based establishments such as UCD and DCU have meant that students have a choice of paths to follow.
The well established PLC and Adult Education Programmes available through Gorey Community School  and County Wexford V.E.C. mean that
lifelong learning is a concept already well embedded within the Gorey community and area.
