Town Council Review 2007
The Town Council’s role in the community is one of leadership, and as the democratically elected representatives of the people of the town, that role is becoming increasingly more important with the continued development and expansion of the Town.
During the year, The Town Council met and discussed the Creagh Framework Plan and Protected Structures with Staff of Wexford County Council. The Council received a presentation from the Community Based Drug Initiative and held civic receptions for Active Ireland and Mark Durkan leader of the SDLP.
Gorey Town Council support the Arts, Voluntary Groups and recognises excellence in the Town by awarding Certificates of Achievement to individuals in recognition of their achievement at National and International level.

During the year the Council addressed many social and community issues, including; the provision of a taxi rank, public lighting, potholes, anti-social behaviour, litter, parking, drugs, the need for a new secondary and primary school, the handball alley and the need for an additional accessible public toilet in the Town.
The Council actively promoted Gorey as a place to live, work and invest in during the year through its support for the Gorey Showcase and County Wexford Spirit of Enterprise Conference held in the Town, the setting up of a CCTV working group, supporting Gorey Heart Safe with the provision of a defibrillator for the Town, support for the Graveyard project and continued support for Gorey Tidy Towns Committee.
